2024 BLACK MUSIC HONORS SET TO TAPE SATURDAY, MAY 18TH AT THE COBB ENERGY PERFORMING ARTS CENTRE IN ATLANTA, GA; WITH RETURNING CO-HOSTS LETOYA LUCKETT AND DERAY DAVIS


(CHICAGO, IL) - May 14th, 2024 - Chicago-based Central City Productions announces additional performers for the 9th Annual Black Music Honors set to take place at the renowned Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta, GA on Saturday, May 18th. Black Music Honors is an annual event that celebrates the illustrious achievements and exceptional contributions of Black music icons.

Joining the previously announced honorees are performers: Ceelo Green, Total and 702, MC Lyte, Marsha Ambrosius, Chrisette Michele, Next, Mr. Talkbox, J. Brown, Jekalyn Carr, and Mali Music. Previously announced performers include: Ruben Studdard, Kim Burrell, BLK ODYSSY, Donald Lawrence, Kevin Lemons & Higher Calling, Ricky Dillard, MonoNeon, Shanice, The Chi (Carl Thomas, Dave Hollister & Syleena Johnson) and Tone Stith with a Special Appearance by: David & Tamela Mann.

The ceremony will be co-hosted by singer and actress LeToya Luckett alongside comedic actor DeRay Davis and will honor Johnny Gill, Patrice Rushen, Bootsy Collins and Hezekiah Walker.

A night of black excellence awaits at the 2024 Black Music Honors where exceptional performances, heartfelt speeches and timeless memories will be etched in the hearts of viewers. The televised special will premiere on the Stellar Network Saturday, June 1 at 8pm EST with a rebroadcast at 10pm EST and air in national broadcast syndication June 8 - June 30 in tribute to Black Music Month. The show will also air on Bounce TV Wednesday, June 19th (Juneteenth) at 9pm EST. The show, proudly presented by Procter and Gamble, is made possible with the generous support of sponsors such as Walmart, Verizon, State Farm, General Motors (Chevy), Disney, St Jude, Johnson & Johnson and AARP. The 9th Annual Black Music Honors show is Executive Produced by Don Jackson with Jennifer J. Jackson serving as Producer and Executive in Charge of Production; Michael A. Johnson as Producer and Director, Erin Johnson as Talent Producer and Daniel Moore as Music Director.

ABOUT BLACK MUSIC HONORS

Black Music Honors is an annual two-hour event that acknowledges the legendary African-American artists who have influenced and made significant musical contributions to African-American culture and American music worldwide. The celebration of Black musical excellence first began as "Celebrate the Soul of American Music" from 1990 to 1993, a TV show that featured some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry. In 2016, it was revived under the new title of Black Music Honors to commemorate Black Music Month. Black Music Honors is produced by Chicago-based production company Central City Productions (CCP).
